Rescue

Riggolo is a 10-year-old Indian ringneck who came into the rescue at age 5, along with his cagemate Bijou, in search of a "retirement home".  The original owner literally killed Bijou with kindness - feeding an all-seed diet supplemented with all the sunflower seeds they wanted and semi-weekly doses of handfeeding formula "because they liked it".  Bijou became semi paralyzed, retarded, and half blind from all the "good" food they got and a couple years ago I had to have her put down as Riggolo was pecking her to death in self-preservation behavior.

Even though he shares the same room, play space, etc. with the conures, he picks fights with them and Peace at the shows lately so often he gets a "time out" in his carrier partway through the shows.  It's funny to hear him saying "RiggoloRiggoloRiggoloRiggolo...," faster than most humans can say it.  His favorite place to hang out is in the flock-cockatiel cage so we rearranged the cages to put them next to each other rather than across the room.
